Renewable energy produced by solar panels is a proven and cost effective form of energy that provides almost a million homes in the UK with their energy requirements.
You have to supply your property with electricity and historically the only way of doing this was buying your energy from a utility company such as EDF, Eon or British Gas. But now you no longer need to be held to ransom by your utility company and suffer the endless increase in energy prices as you can generate your own energy for life.
Solar Panels are guaranteed for 25 years with an expected working life of 40-50 years so you will recoup your initial investment back many times over during their lifetime.
Solar PV systems now operate from daylight so everyone in the UK can benefit from this abundant source of energy.
The electricity generated by PV solar cells is DC (direct current) whilst the electricity used in your house is AC (alternating current). So the current from the solar panel system has to go through an inverter, to convert it from DC to AC before it can be pumped into your house and used to run appliances.
We know that no two customers are the same so we take the time and effort to consider your needs and your budget to ensure you receive the very best advice with the ideal solar energy solutions for your property. Our surveyors will visit your property, survey it and then provide you with accurate facts and figures to help you make a no pressure informed decision on whether or not solar is right for you.
No planning permission is required as a solar panel installation is classed under ‘permitted developments’ but you will need planning permission if your property is a listed building or you live in a conservation area or area of outstanding natural beauty and your panels will be on a roof that faces a public highway.
In most cases we can install a solar pv system onto most homes in just one day minimising any disruption to the household. The only time it may take longer is where the roof is made of natural slate or manmade/asbestos slate where it may take an additional day.
We only use Solar PV Equipment and suppliers that have been approved by our governing body (MCS – MicroGeneration Certification Scheme) thereby ensuring that our customers have the best products. We will always recommend quality solar panels either made in Germany by the likes of SolarWorld and Axitec or those manufactured by worldwide manufacturers such as LG, Panasonic or Hyundai. Where possible we will even visit the factory of our panel manufacturers to ensure that the quality of their production facilities is as it is publicised in their brochures.
Through a government backed scheme, the Feed-in Tariff (FiT) enables you to earn more than just free electricity from a Solar PV System.
The tariff guarantees a minimum payment per kilowatt hour (kWh) of electricity generated through the solar panels, regardless of whether you use the electricity yourself or not. The FiT payments are in addition to any surplus electricity you sell back to the Grid, which in most cases is based on a deemed usage of 50%, resulting in a payment of 4.91p per kWh for half of the energy generated which is assumed to be exported back to the grid.
